18 Hours Earlier
Washington D.C.

It’s 18 hours earlier from the ending of the previous episode after the whole Alice, weather controlling, digging up the past (literally) ordeal. Sylar wakes up in another man’s body (an agents body). He asks himself why this keeps happening and when he changes back to his original self he also pulls a tooth out of his mouth. It seems like all his shapeshifting is starting to take it’s tole.

Matt Parkman, Matt Parkman and Hiro and Ando

Parkman calls Janice to tell her Matt is okay. He’s going to try and get Matt back to her as soon as possible. Matt tries to tell Hiro and Ando to avoid taking down Danko while they try to convince to join the fight (it seems a suprise baby can make Matt totally forget about Daphne…). They decide to go their separate ways.

Sylar and Danko

Sylar explains to Danko that he went to bed as himself and then woke up as Agent Taub (I thought I had missed the scene where Danko tells Sylar to become Agent Taub because it was in the “Previously on Heroes” into to the show, but that clip was actually thrown in there to give the necessary background that Sylar has been pretending to be Taub).  Sylar thinks he’s starting to lose himself and Sylar doesn’t want to be a nobody. Sylar decides to stay as Taub to keep his cover and not reveal that he’s still alive.

Tom Miller
Richmond Virginia

Rebel sends Tom a message to “Get out now!” Unfortunately for Tom, Sylar is already in his apartment (continuity error, when Sylar shapeshifted from Taub to himself, he also changes close, it don’t work like that… but meh). Sylar tells Tom that he wants to help him and asks Tom to show him his power. His power is aparently to make things fall apart with the snap of his finger. Sylar then tells him agents are coming and asks him to choose between him and them. Tom chooses Sylar, who then takes his power and writes, “I am Sylar” on the wall.

Later Sylar and Danko talk more about Sylar’s identity crisis. Danko tells him to find something to use as an anchor so that he will stop losing himself physically and mentally.

Hiro and Ando

The break into Isaac Mendez’s loft and Hiro wants Ando to be bait in his plan to draw out the enemy revealing the location of Building 26. Ando tells Hiro he wants his superhero alias to be the Crimson Arc. Hiro says it’s dangerous yet ladylike. After they enter the loft, agents pop up and Hiro stops time. But Ando doesn’t stop with it! Usually someone doesn’t stop if they also have time manipulation powers, but I’m not sure what it means for Ando with his red lighting power. Hiro says time didn’t stop for baby Matt Parkman so maybe it’s a similar situation. Ando says that he doesn’t have to be the bait anymore, but Hiro takes the decision away from him by unstopping when Ando is standing in front of the knockout darts that were previously shot.

Ando is taken in an armoured vehicle along the Baltimore/Washington Parkway with a sedation tube up his nose (he’s gonnna be real angry when he wakes up). Hiro is dressed up as one of the agents that apprehended him (he took one of the agent’s suits while in the loft). Hiro stops time and removes Ando’s nose tube, but tells him to pretend he’s unconscious for now. One of the other agents realizes that Hiro is wearing glasses and then Ando lights up the whole truck with red overloading the bad guys (I remember when his power didn’t hurt). Hiro finds the GPS with directions, so all is not lost.

Hiro and Ando make it to building 26. Hiro agrees to be equal partners with Ando, instead of making the decisions himself. After their friends again, Hiro freezes time, but it doesn’t work and Hiro gets a really bad headache and bleeds out of his nose (uh oh).

Matt Parkman and Matt Parkman
Janice Parkman’s Home, LA

Janice isn’t actually there when the Matt arrives, so he talks to the baby for awhile and tells him he didn’t know he existed (which I’m pretty sure he did…). When Janice does arrive home, Matt senses that there are agents watching the house and that they have to leave soon. Janice gets ready and is about to leave, but Matt says he isn’t coming. He wants to stay and fight so he can have a happy life with his new (well old) family. Just then the agents begin entering the house.

Sylar

Agent Taub/Sylar looks up the unsolved murder of Virginia Gray, his adopted mother. He then possibly hallucinates (or imagines) a conversation with his mother about his childhood and the truth of his father. She after he killed her there was no one left to love him, but now she’s back. Just then there’s a knock at the door and we see Virginia shift to Sylar, meaning his was acting both parts of the conversation. The knock was Danko saying they’ve found Rebel.

They arrive at Rebel’s location and shut off all the electricity so no electronics work and start to enter the building. Sylar breaks away from the group and gets to Micah first. Sylar is a little surprised that Rebel is just a kid, and doesn’t remember Micah from the end of volume one (he was a little preoccupied at the time). Micah starts trying to tell Sylar that he can help him and that he is “one of us” and that he can “save us all.” Sylar seems to consider the idea, but we all know Sylar doesn’t play nice very well. But he does it! He morphs into Micah and distracts the bad guys allowing Micah to get away (Micah apparently can warm the heart of any bad guy). Sylar was shot in the process and manages to convince Danko that Micah is dead. Danko then sends Sylar after a list of people they found on one of Micah’s computers.

Back at Sylar’s apartment, Micah overhears Sylar have a conversation with his mother and watches as he shifts between the two. Virginia/Sylar notices and tells Micah to leave before he kills him. Micah gives Sylar the idea to be Nathan Petrelli and try to make a difference, but does the smart thing and leaves as quick as possible (why he was there in the first place is beyond me…).

Sylar obviously likes the idea because he ends up in Nathan’s office talking to his mother. He gets Nathan’s DNA from a toothbrush and then after the conversation with his mother, he decides that he could even be president!

Sylar then holds the press conference as Nathan (even though Nathan is kind of being hunted right now).

Coyote Sands Cafe

Nathan says that he has to be the one to stop Sylar from meeting the president, by trying to meet him first. He refuses help from everyone else, but I don’t really see how they can help anyway.

Nathan goes back to Washington D.C. and meets Sylar. And Sylar actually uses an old ability to see the history of one of Nathan’s jackets and see how Nathan betrayed his family by starting the new plan to hunt down people with abilities. Nathan doesn’t like getting a lecture from Sylar. Sylar then gets tired of talking and is about to take Nathan’s power, when Danko shoots Nathan in the back (not fatally) and tells Sylar to become Taub and help hunt down some of Rebel’s friends.

Conclusion

During Mohinder does the voice-over: Mohinder get’s captured at Coyote Sands; Hiro sits devastated as Ando cleans up his blood; Parkman causes the agents to not see him and his family and walk around them; Noah, Claire, Peter and Angela get pulled over on the highway and then captured; Sylar decides he doesn’t want to help Danko anymore and then Danko shoves a knife in the back of his head.

But then Sylar gets up!

So everything is pretty much as bad as it can get, except for Parkman who is now willing to fight. Sylar being immune to stab in the back of his head is a pretty big deal though. I’m a little worried the finale won’t be the big battle I was expected, but I do encourage the show to take new direction so I shouldn’t complain.

Coyote Sands

One of the graves had a baseball glove in it, another had a necklace… (the pointlessness amazes me). Peter asks Angela what happened and why they came there to find the sister they never knew she had.

February 1961
Coyote Sands

We see a bus pull up to the Coyote Sands Relocation Center (it’s clearly a 60′s bus). We then find a young Angela Shaw and a young Chandra Suresh and we meet Alice Shaw, Angela’s sister (by the way, this was all down in black and white even though it’s an extended flashback…). We also meet a young Dr. Zimmerman (the guy who made Niki, Tracy and Barbara). The relocation centre seems more like a camp than a family getaway, and it doesn’t seem like that great of a camp either.

We then meet a young Charles Deveaux, a young Daniel Linderman and a young Bobby Bishop (I’m going to stop saying young now). They just came to say hi and then leave. Angela and Alice have a little talk about how the place is supposed to cure Angela’s nightmare problems caused by genetics. During the scene the weather has a dramatic change has Alice’s mood changes, possibly hinting at Alice’s ability (you know she has one).

Present Day

Angela Petrelli tells Peter that her family all died at this place and we see that someone is watching the two of them from inside one of the camp houses (oooo, spooky).

Later Angela tells the whole group that she has been dreaming of her sister and wants too see her for herself, hence all the digging. She also explains that back in the day, the government rounded up people with abilities to Coyote Sands with a promise to cure them, but it didn’t work out so well. The survivors started the Company, so that this never happens again. She reveals that Noah and her have been trying to stop this new situation (started by Nathan), but Danko has “proved resourceful.”

March 1961

Angela wakes up from a nightmare/vision. She goes out meets up with Deveaux and his friends. Linderman even shows her his power. They ask Angela about her dream, but all she tells them is not to trust Dr. Suresh.

When she goes back to bed, Alice reveals that she can control the weather. She then causes it to snow outside.

Present Day

Claire talks with Angela about what’s going on, but Angela just talks about how tough and strong Claire is. Then a sand storm starts up and Angela beleives it was caused by Alice.

Nathan catches up with Peter. He wants to make good with Peter, but Peter is still bitter (understandably bitter). They then hear about the severe storm warning which is hitting Coyote Sands.

Noah is in the storm and is trying to find Claire when he gets dragged into a buildling by Mohinder. He questions Noah about what he is doing here and Noah explains he’s working with Angela and what happened in 1961. Mohinder then explains that his father used to work there.

April 1961

Angela has a session with Chandra Suresh about her powers. She had a dream about it and knows everything before it happens. She then tells him that he’s going to kill everyone there. Dr. Suresh tries to explain that all the powers can be used to help the world, but Angela says she only sees her dreams.

Present Day

Angela tells Claire that is must be her sister causing the storm. She goes out in the storm and Claire follows her, but Angela is already gone. Just then Peter and Nathan come back (assumably trying to help).

Mohinder now believes that his father was evil doing tests on people with abilities. He also feels guilty that he’s done a lot of the same things his father did.

May 1961

Deveaux and Angela have a plan to escape Coyote Sands, but she had to leave Alice, because she was too young. Angela then lies to her sister that she had a dream she would be safe at the centre.

Present Day

Angela is in some basement with stacks and stacks of paper. Someone comes down to see her, an old severely unkept lady. Naturally it’s Alice.

May 1961
Coyote Sands Cafe

Deveaux, Linderman, Bishop and Angela have escaped the centre and Deveaux shows off some impressive telepath abilities with mind reading and strong suggestion (like Eden McCain level persuasion with just his mind). Angela then says that they need to get socks for Alice, so we know they plan to return to the centre. They then hear a warning about a storm occuring and Angela tells them they have to get back.

Present Day

It seems like Alice has been living in the shelter for 50 years. She stayed because Angela told her that she dreamt Alive would be safe if she stayed. Alice then explained what happened that night.  Dr. Suresh came for Alice after Angela had left. He wanted to give her a needle, but it upset Alice and she caused a storm and ran off. Dr. Suresh chased after her and slapped her to try and calm her down (or possibly just to be mean, it seemed pretty random). Mr. Shaw then came and shot some energy from his hand that blew Dr. Suresh away. An army guy then shot Mr. Shaw dead. That’s when most of the other people died.

Angela tells Alice she no longer has to stay there and that she has socks for Alice and that whenever she feels lost she steals socks for Alice to remember there are simple ways to protect the ones she loves (weirdest clepto excuse ever…). Angela then admits she lied to Alice to try and protect her that night. That’s when Alice starts a storm with lightning that can reach into the basement shelter. Mohinder and Peter show up and when Mohinder tells Alice to calm down she has a flashback to Chandra Suresh and zaps Mohinder unconscious. Angela manages to calm Alice down and asks her to come with them, but Alice says No. She then walks out and disappears (possibly on the wind).

Most of the group decides to move on now that Alice is gone, but Mohinder decides to stay (in the middle of nowhere…). He hasn’t forgiven himself for what he has done and wants some more answers.

Angela goes back to the Coyote Sands cafe and remembers when she started the company with the Deveaux, Lindermand and Bishop and that they would do anything to protect people like them (“a necessary evil”).

Angela says she will never see her sister again and the group has dinner in the same spot that the Company was started. Peter says that they aren’t a company, but a family. Nathan says that he’s going to own up to his mistakes and try and talk to the president, but it seems like he already has since there is another Nathan Petrelli holding a press conference on TV. Noah explains that it’s Sylar.

So this explained a lot of the Company’s past and Angela’s past, but it would pretty bad if the whole trip to Coyote Sands was basically for nothing. And I would be very upset if we don’t see Alice again. She can control the weather! That’s pretty awesome. Well the finale is coming up fast and I can’t wait for all the stories to come together.

Bennet and Danko
Building 26

Danko shows Bennet the dead Sylar body, but Bennet is very skeptical about Sylar being dead.  Some then informs them that Noah’s wife is here and Noah is pretty surprised. Sandra is upset that agents stormed their house and tried to take Claire.

Danko then goes to the washroom and meets Danko, but the first Danko was actually Sylar who wanted to play around with Bennet. The real Danko is upset that Sylar is playing around (and Sylar tells Danko to check a hidden mole, even though copying a hidden mole probably wouldn’t happen with most shapeshifting abilities…).

Angela calls Noah to tell him that the Petrelli’s are going Coyete Sands. Noah doesn’t know very much about it, but he’s still preoccupied about Sylar and wants to check if it’s really him. Angela warns him not to, but he won’t listen. He goes and removes the spike from Sylar’s head and nothing happens. So now he knows. Noah then meets up with Sandra. She wants a divorce. Noah is kind of crushed. Turns out Sandra was actually just Sylar messing with Noah again (jerk…).

Noah looks over the divorce papers and notices that his wife’s signature is different! He then goes to Sandra’s hotel room and holds a gun to her head, thinking that she’s Sylar (well we all are). He roughs her up a bit and then finds out she doesn’t know about the divorce or anything. He figures out that it’s not Sylar and feels pretty bad about it (well Sylar wins this one).

Bennet visits Danko at Building 26, but of course it’s not Bennet, it’s Sylar. Sylar has found some Primatech files at Bennet’s apartment. But wait! It’s not Sylar it’s actually Bennet. After he’s sure Danko is working with Sylar, he has a gun to Danko’s head and makes him tell him where/who Sylar is. Bennet then goes and puts a gun to Agent Donner’s head. He asks Danko to verify, but Danko says he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Donner then tells Bennet he’s just stressed about the divorce (no one else even knew about it). Bennet then waits for Sylar to heal, but he doesn’t. Danko checks the agent’s pulse and says he’s dead. Noah feels pretty bad about it and runs off. Another person now on the run (although I’m not sure if this counts as him switching sides, like it did with Nathan). Later on we see Sylar heal himself and him and Danko are a team again.

Hiro and Ando and Baby Matt Parkman
Highway 40 Ohio

They try to reach the father Matt Parkman, but all his phones are disconnected. Then the baby gets upset and their car stops dead. So they try to hitchhike. A big truck stops for themand some Japanese red-neck with Texas (seriously…). The truck noise upsets the baby and the truck and everything in it dies. They leave the truck with the baby and the truck driver drives off. Ando then makes stupid faces to get the baby happy again so that they can use their own car (it works, but it’s incredibly annoying for the viewers…).

Hiro tries to contact Matt through Mohinder, and Mohinder tells them where Matt was headed.

Some hotel room in Washington

Mohinder is going to India to leave the country, but Matt is staying behind. He wants revenge. He’s going after Danko and he wants to hurt him. The two then go their separate ways.

Mohinder goes back to his apartment in New York. It’s been cleared out by “homeland security.” The apartment manager then tells Mohinder that his father left some things in storage and he should pick it up before he goes. Mohinder checks them out and finds some information on Coyote Sands (*gasp*).

Matt finds Danko and messes with his mind to get him to go to the person closest to him. he then goes and sees some foreign sounding lady (Russian I think). Apparently Danko and her are in love. He then leaves after his visit with her and Matt Parkman is hiding around the corner of the house. Matt sneaks in and tries to kill the lady, but he can’t do it. He then tries to explain that he works with Danko after finding out the lady is a prostitute. She then wants to talk about Danko’s work. Danko has been lying like crazy to the lady, that he sells textbooks and has a family. Parkman then tries to clear things up for her.

Parkman brings Alena to Danko’s apartment. She figures out he doesn’t have a family and lives in some bleak apartment. Matt has a gun to both of them (even though you’d think he could just mess with them if he wanted to). Oh he does mess with Danko. He forces Danko to say he kills people and that he killed Daphne. Alena is pretty sad about it and Danko feels bad. Matt then tries to kill Alena again, but he can’t. Matt then gives up and lets Danko shoot him. Just at that second Hiro shows up and stops time! He then takes Matt away (in a chair with wheels). When he unfreezes time, Danko is surprised and Alena call Danko a monster and goes off on her way. Later on Danko tries to call Alena to say he’s sorry, but we see her leaving her nice house in a cab.

Matt tells Hiro he didn’t want to be saved, but then Hiro and Ando show Matt his son. Matt seems surprised by this, even though he knew his ex-wife was pregnant and the baby might not have been his (I don’t think that the baby having power’s counts and a paternity test).

Nathan and Claire

They are making their way to Coyote Sands to meet Angela and Peter. They don’t know why, but they’re going. They meet up with Peter and Angela in some random middle of nowhere.

Angela: “And to prepare for the future you have to understand the past. You want the answers then you’ll have to dig.”

I don’t see why digging in some ghost town, will give them answers, but we’ll see. After a lot of digging Nathan finds a skull with a bullet hole in it. He asks if Angela knows the person and she says she knew all of them, which means there’s probably a lot. Just then Noah Bennet shows up to the party and him and Claire are both a little surprised.

So I guess we’ll just have to wait til the next episode to see what really happened at Coyote Sands. And we can also try to see how many actors can play Sylar or try to. Well the cast will probably have a lot of fun with that, although it’s a lot less air time for Zachary Quinto

Nathan and Claire
Patzcuaro, Mexico

Nathan and Claire have left the country, which makes me think why haven’t other heroes left the country and aren’t there other people with abilities in other countries besides the U.S.A. Claire then decides to go for a walk alone (that always works out well…). They meet up at some Cantina and Claire managed to get some money, pawning off a necklace she had (sure…). She tries to find out why she got a free pass earlier on, but Nathan won’t tell her. Nathan then takes the money and makes a bet with some college boys on vacation that her can drink them under the table… they accept… Nathan eventually passes out and loses after like 22 shots of Tequila. That’s when Claire bets Nathan’s nice watch for him and starts drinking to win the money (I don’t know if her power covers the affects of alcohol, although I would assuming it would at least prevent alcohol poisoning). Turns out she is immune to alcohol and takes the money (I wonder who paid for all that tequila). When they go back to the hotel room, Nathan explains that he wanted to be a good father to her when the time was right (I’m not sure how that makes sense with what he’s been going). He then says that he’s going to try and make everything right (remember that he was the one who started the whole thing… and thought it was good for the country). In the morning Nathan explains to Claire that he can’t really do anything to help the situation he started and only said he could because he was drunk. Claire is naturally disappointed and leaves him. Nathan then pawns his watch to get Claire’s necklace back and tells her he’s heading back to try and change things, he then asks her to come with him.

Peter and Angela
New York City

Peter saved Angela to try and get some answer about what’s going on, but Angela got Peter to bring her to some large cathedral type church to try to get some answers of her own. Inside the church they are having a relatively tiny mass inside a huge church… but also Angela is complaining that she can’t sleep (she needs to sleep to dream about the future). So she came to the church to get some peace. Peter says an agree prayer, when some agents pop up looking for the Petrelli’s. Angela then tries to apologize for everything she has done and said that is was necessary to save the world. Luckily the agent that finds them is Noah Bennet, who decides not to turn them in.

Later Angela falls asleep and has a dream that she needs to visit her sister (that we never heard about until now…).

Bennet, Danko and Sylar
Arlington, Virginia (Not Texas)

They’re checking out a case where some geometry teacher, James Martin, killed three of the government agents sent to capture him (his DNA set off a red flag in the national database). I don’t know why the show is adding more people with abilities (as if they don’t have enough), but at least he’s killing the bad guys.

Danko then walks away from the scene and goes to his car. Sylar is already in the car waiting for him. Sylar offers to help Danko kill people like him. I’m not sure if Danko could really refuse and then when Danko tries to turn around and shoot Sylar, but Sylar was already out of the car (I don’t remember Sylar having any power that allows him to do this, but he could have picked it up in a lot of places).

Building 26

Noah and Danko talk about using the “one of them, one of us” tactic which clearly foreshadows Danko working with Sylar. Then Danko tells Bennet to go after Angela Petrelli (which is awkward because Noah is also kind of working with her to bring down the evil government agenda).

Later Agent Jenkins talks with Danko, when Danko gets a call from Sylar. Sylar also sent Danko a box with Agent Jenkins’ head in it and tells Danko that James Martin is a shape shifter (I thought it was previously tasteful for Heroes to not include shapeshifters, since they would be hard to explain using any science, but instead had Candice who would only “shapeshift” by changing the appearance reality around her, but now Heroes went and threw one in anyway). And now that James Martin touched Danko, he can probably change into him. James managed to get away when Danko goes after him.

Danko’s Apartment

Sylar pays Danko a visit and Danko has a gun pointed at him. Danko knows Sylar wants James Martin’s power. Sylar again tells Danko that he wants to help him catch everyone and this time Danko agrees.

Then go check out James Martin’s house to analyze he personality. They figure which bar he likes to go to. When they arrive they see that he’s Danko. James Martin sees them and starts playing a cat and mouse game with them. Danko and Sylar meet up again. They figure that James Martin escaped again. Then just as they leave, Danko shoots Sylar. Then Sylar comes along and asks if Danko killed him (turns out the first Sylar was just the shapeshifter). Danko says he didn’t kill him and then asks Sylar if he could not leave a mark when he does his thing…

Later Bennet comes along and sees that Sylar has been killed (properly with a knife in the back of his head). He’s understandably skeptical, but seems to accept it for now, which means Danko can use Sylar all he wants now and Sylar doesn’t even have to look like himself anymore. To be continued…

I have to say this all seems to be leading up to the Heroes cliché of the heroes versus the company and/or Sylar (or Sylar type guy). Maybe this time they kill Sylar he won’t come back, also Peter’s new mortality is promising (for him to not come either). I know the characters are popular, but Heroes has so much potential, I don’t see why they keep coming back to the same characters.

As far I can tell they don’t plan to show who Rebel is anytime soon. They might do it in the season finale in the middle of whatever big brawl they plan to do to end the chapter. I know Heroes doesn’t like to bring back old characters or continue story arcs , but it would make a ton of sense if it was Hana Gitelman (aka Wireless, the lady who contacted Ted Sprague, radioactive man, in Chapter 1) but somehow I think it’s unlikely.

Also, the opening scene is of Danko shaving. It’s really weird and kind of creepy…

Is it just me or did Danko look pretty much clean-shaven before he even started, and he stops with a big patch on he cheek left over. I know I can’t get away with that.

Well anyway, he here’s his front door telling him that it’s open (seriously) and so he goes and checks it out. In his living room (or the living area of a bachelor pad that looks more like a very large, furnished prison cell) he finds the Eric Doyle, the puppet man, all wrapped up in a bow (literally). He is also wrapped up in other ropes and is somewhat unconscious. There is also a note: “My Gift to You”

Streets of New York

Bennet gets into a town car (he also shaved this morning, you can tell because he has tissue stuck to he face where he was bleeding… seriously…). And Angela Petrelli just happens to already be in the cab. She doesn’t want to meet with Noah anymore because it will be too dangerous. But she does tell him to get on Danko’s better side and to do this he should give Danko Rebel! Noah then tells Angela not to go home. Looks like she’s on the run now too.

A little while later Angela has a vision of her capture while stuck in traffic, but she narrowly escapes. She then meets her friend Millie (played by Swoosie Kurtz (Lily Charles on Pushing Daisies)) at a restaurant. She asks Millie to help her disappear, but all she does is give her a couple hundred dollars.

Next, the bad guys manage to corner Angela in the lobby of a building, but she gets in an elevator. The bad guys get the elevator to go back down to the lobby, but by that point Peter is with her and flies her up the elevator shaft (this scene gets the award for least sense and lamest scene of the episode, possibly volume…)

At the end of the show Angela and Peter are at the top of Statue of Liberty and he asks her, “So what do you want to do now?” (this is by far the least exciting storyline of the episode, but kind of necessary to show that Peter is on her side now)

Building 26

Danko brings Mohinder to see all the sedated/unconscious people with abilities. Daphne is there, but Mohinder says she is dying. Danko doesn’t care and then somebody sedates Mohinder.

Noah then comes along and tells Danko that he has a plan to catch Rebel. Rebel has contacted Tracy Strauss twice and is probably going to try and save her. So if they let Tracy go she can lead them to “him.”

Later on the power going out at Building 26 and the doors unlock. Tracy doesn’t wait to escape and she makes her way to the sedation room. She only wakes up Mohinder and Parkman (… really…) and with Parkman’s mind tricks, they make their escape. Oh and Matt is carry Daphne, of course.

Hiro, Ando and Baby Matt

Hiro and Ando are still babysitting baby Matt Parkman who think that Matt Parkman has changed back to a baby… then Ando figures out that it’s actually Matt Parkman’s baby who is also named Matt Parkman (remember he had a pregnant wife, who he found out cheated on him with his old partner and the baby is his partner’s, although a vision from Volume 2 kind of contradicts that). Since Rebel told them to save Matt Parkman at this address, they’re going to protect the baby. And it looks like the baby has the power to turn electronics on even when they aren’t plugged in (or maybe it’ll be something better when he grows up).

The baby keeps turning things on and then Hiro tells Ando that his Mom died in his arms when he travelled back in time (near the end of volume 3). And that’s when Matt’s Mom shows up. Hiro and Ando try to explain that they’re trying to help and the Parkman isn’t a terrorist and Matt Jr. is in trouble. That’s when some agents show up with a warrant for Janice Parkman and her son. She tries to distract them, but they search the house anyway. Ando uses his powers to shoot some blast at a bad guy, but it’s not enough and they almost get caught when… Hiro stops time! Hiro thinks it’s because the baby knows how to turn things on, so he turned Hiro’s powers back on. Unfortunately Hiro can’t teleport out of there and has to carry a frozen Ando out in a wheelbarrow.

Time stays frozen as Hiro runs around town with baby Matt Parkman. He then manages to unfreeze time and explain the situation to Ando. He plans to save big Matt Parkman now (although Matt is doing pretty okay on his own now…)

Matt, Mohinder and Daphne

After the escape, Matt and Mohinder go to a hospital. Matt messes with the doctors heads to make sure that they help Daphne and not report the gun shot wound to the police. Originally he gave he the fake name Janice (like his ex-wife), but later convinces everyone that Daphne is Gwen Stefani… Him and Daphne later talk about the ex-wife part. Daphne then decides to leave and she runs off. Will Parkman see her again? Or more importantly will we?

Daphne then has a scene in Paris and Parkman shows up. Turns out he can also fly and he starts carrying her around Paris. It doesn’t take long for Daphne to figure out he’s in her head and it’s all a dream. She then asks him to let her go, but first to fly her to the moon.

Back in reality we see that they weren’t pretending she was Gwen Stefani and that her heart isn’t beating anymore…

It was a nicer ending than the last time she died… but I don’t understand why they would bring her back just to kill again… it kind of makes it worse than the random killing…

Tracy and Rebel

After the escape, Noah finds Tracy and he convinces her to help him find Rebel. Then as she’s walking the streets alone, a bank machine talks to her and gives her some money… and a receipt with a note to go to a locker at union station.

Right after she calls a cab and heads off. Another person calls a cab:

Micah Sanders!

He’s Rebel! I thought it’d be someone a bit older, but at least it makes sense (or well mostly makes sense). And his voice dropped a octave since the last time we saw him and he’s grown a foot (although not nearly as bad as when Walt hit puberty on Lost, they still haven’t explained how it happened in like 3 days…)

At the Train Station, Tracy finds the right locker and a ticket. Micah then comes along and tells Tracy he’s Rebel. Tracy then tells Micah that she sold him out. Micah’s disappointed, but he had a plan to escape anyway.

Micah and Tracy get cornered in a parking garage, but Tracy has a plan.

Line of the show
Tracy: Can you tell the sprinklers what to do?
Micah: I can tell the fire alarm to tell the sprinklers what to do.

So Micah turns the sprinklers on and Tracy tells him to run away. She then gets everyone’s attention else’s attention in one blast of her power she freezes the room and herself. Danko then comes along and shatters her with a bullet to the chest.

(Aftewards you can see part of her frozen head wink, I’m not sure if this was donw to say that she can now live through water/ice or if it was just to be creepy, but it was pretty damn creepy)

This was definitely one of the best episodes of Heroes that I’ve seen in a long time. Heroes might just make a comeback from the disasters of Volume 2 and 3. I’m always a little sad when they kill off more blondes, but I had already accepted Daphne as being gone and we still have Barbara left over from the Niki triplets. With Micah being Rebel we might also see some other long lost heroes like his cousin, Monica Dawson, the copycat/St. Joan. Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Looks like Hiro and Ando are also back in action for this episode. So is Tracy. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll find out who Rebel is… But first what about the Puppet Man?!?!

Bennet House

Puppet man, Eric Doyle, went to ask for Claire’s help. Rebel has sent him. He is all upset about being hunted by the bad guys, but seriously if anybody he deserves to be locked up in some facility. If I was Claire I’d hand him over. Claire and her Mom talk about trying to help people with powers (she’s a regular Harriet Tubman) and her plan is to work at a comic book store as a cover. So all the people can meet her there instead of at her house (she doesn’t see the flaw of a pretty girl working at a comic store…). The Sam’s Comic manager seems to question her rather hard when she applies to work there. He almost makes her cry when he asks her what kind of hero she is. He then seems to realize she’s pretty and gives her the job. Claire then starts to realize a flaw in the plan.

After Claire’s first day on the job, Rebel contacts Claire that Doyle has been found and then Claire goes and saves him. Another blonde moment for the cheerleader. Claire then manages to get him a new identity to start over (with Rebel’s, help of course). Claire then asks Doyle if he really changed, he doesn’t really answer and Claire starts thinking maybe it was a bad idea after all (but Rebel told her to do it!)

Building 26

Danko is wondering about how Peter was saved from the roof top (obviously he thinks Nathan can fly) and then Nathan gets a call that Parkman is going to blow up Washington. So now Nathan doesn’t trust Danko. Nathan goes to confront Parkman and then Danko sets off the bomb! Except someone stopped the activation code. Parkman then reads a bomb specialists mind to figure out which wire to pull to stop the bomb and kind of saves the day. Danko is upset. So is Nathan and he’s going to try get rid of Danko, but Danko threatens Nathan with exposing him as someone with an ability.

A drugged up Tracy Strauss is lead back to Building 26 and Nathan talks with her telling her that he is her only hope. Danko then comes along to have a little talk of his own with her. She denies that Nathan has “an ability.”

Bennet then leads Danko to think Angela Petrelli is the one who saved Peter. When he calls Angela she seems ready for the challenge.

Random Town, USA

Sylar is going back to his messed up roots. Looks like he’s found his father (played by John Glover). But his Dad has cancer and doesn’t really care if Sylar kills him. I don’t see why Sylar would wait to kill him after finding out about the cancer, but he does. They talk about life and being evil and such. Turns out Mr. Gray has the same ability as Sylar (to take abilities, although we don’t know how he prefers to do it). At the end of the scene it looks like Sylar now wants his father to be his teacher. So he teaches him about living alone and taxidermy (that’s his hobby…). Sylar manages to cut himself and then shows his Dad he can heal. So naturally Mr. Gray wants the power and begins attacking Sylar (with arrows…). Unfortunately for Sylar his father has a power to whistle people into submission. Turns out Sylar was just faking and then leaves his father to suffer through life until he dies.

Manhattan

Danko meets with Angela Petrelli. She basically tells him she knows much more about him than he knows about her and that he’s expendable. He doesn’t like that so he leaves.

Building 26

Nathan manages to get Danko fired. And he gets Bennet promoted. Just as Nathan and Noah are going to meet the President, Danko comes along and shoves Nathan out a window. Of course Nathan flies off and Danko now knows for sure that Nathan has an ability.

63 Varna Avenue
Los Angeles

Hiro and Ando go to this address to look for Matt Parkman. A girl in the house is upset about a baby and gives him to Hiro thinking he’s a replacement sent by “the agency.” Turns out the baby is Matt Parkman (which doesn’t make any sense…). I’m sure they’ll have fun with this story arch.

Conclusion

At the conclusion of the episode, Mohinder’s voice-over is about generations and parents and all this crazy stuff is going on in mini end show scenes:
- Claire finds out her free pass is up
- Samson Gray thinks about his life and powers
- Sylar visits Danko! (he’s actually joining the main story arch to mess everything up!)
- Agents come to take Claire away, but… Nathan came to save her!

So we can assume that Nathan is no longer in charge now that Danko knows and Bennet has to pretend he didn’t know. And that’s why Claire lost her free pass. Also I’m not sure if Sylar is going to kill Danko or help him. I’m guessing help him because that would be the more evil thing to do. He’s probably going to use the excuse that if all the heroes are dead he won’t have the urge for more abilities anymore… well I can only hope he somehow manages to die this season…

Claire and Alex Woolsly

Remember the lamest hero we’ve seen yet: Aquaboy? He’s back and he can still only breath underwater (also he prefers wholewheat… seriously, we get it, he’s lame). Claire is sending him to Albequerque, but he doesn’t want to go, he figures he’s screwed anyways so why bother. Then her Mom comes and asks where the house money went (they keep $300 in a baby shoe?).  Sandra Bennet then finds out about Alex and Claire says that she’s having sex with him… Alex denies it and Mrs. Bennet believes (seriously? I wouldn’t). Claire tells her Mom that he has a power, so the Mom says she’s disappointed and walks away. Claire tries to explain that she lied to her Mom to protect her. Sandra tells Claire that there’s a van outside watching her. So of course Claire cracks opens the front door and checks… Then Mrs. Bennet then starts helping them (this seems like a lot of trouble for a kid who basically has no power). She takes her sons Driver’s Licence and makes a fake ID for Alex (there are so many technical things wrong with this story I won’t even start). Once Alex and Claire are alone he starts hitting on her (how old is he? I hope he isn’t another uncle…). Sandra then comes along and says that the agents are coming in the house, so they hide Alex in a whole in the wall and it works. Claire and Alex run out the backyard and her Mom makes a diversion. Alex and Claire flirt a little more as they make their lame getaway. Of course they land in a pool and have to hide there. Alex breaths air into Claire as they make-out, I mean hide, I mean both… Claire ends up back home and she and her Mom and friendly and trust each other again. Then the Puppet Man, Eric Doyle, shows up! He got a message from Rebel telling him Claire would help him! This is actually the shows cliffhanger, but it’s so random I don’t care to put at the end.

Bennet, Danko and Nathan

Apparently Peter and Matt are the number one enemies at this point. I guess since they’ve been bugging the bad guys it makes sense. Danko has authorizedlethal force, but Nathan still doesn’t like it.

Peter and Matt

Matt keeps painting the same picture (I think it’s him being crazy or something). Then the computer in the room turns on by it’s self and Rebel starts messaging them (there was a computer in the room?). Rebel gives them an address, 283 E Street S.W. Washington D.C., and says Daphne is there. Rebel then tells them they’re coming and to get out (I bet Noah is Rebel, that would be funny, or maybe Angela). Danko then gets the bright idea that Matt and Peter are going to Washington because of the giant picture of Washington blowing up, he’s a genius…

So Peter and Matt get to the building and Peter wants Matt to mess with everyone’s mind so they can get to Daphne. Matt says he can’t control all the minds, so Peter takes his power (through his jacket… even though he touched him earlier and nothing happened…). So they’re going to mess with everone’s minds (apparently they can work together and nothing goes wrong and apparently Peter can automatically master abilities… and knows how to hack…). Peter finds out that Daphne has been moved. The bad guys then pull the fire alarm to mess with Parkman’s head. Peter copies some computer files and gets out, while Parkman gets caught (again…). Also Rebel showed up on the computer to help out a little bit, but it was more random than useful (and since Noah was preoccupied at the time maybe Rebel is Angela Petrelli).

Sylar and Luke

They’re being creepy as usual. Sylar stops at some abandoned highway stop called Big Jim’s, seems like Sylar remembers the place. The two of them go inside the creepy building and Sylar has creepy memories of the place.

1980 Flashback

Gabriel Gray’s Dad brings him into the Diner and Gabriel kind of looks like Simon Birch as a kid (maybe that hair and those glasses where the style at the time…).  Turns out the Diner is the place where Sylar’s dad sold Sylar to his uncle (I think that’s right…). Then kid Gabriel goes out and chases his father to the parking lot where he sees him agruing with Sylar’s real Mom. Sylar’s Dad then kills her by slicing her head! And shoves her out of the car. Gabriel is understandably upset and keeps saying Mommy…

Back in the present Sylar takes out his anger on Luke, but again decides not to kill him. He does abandon him this time and goes after his father alone.

The Petrellis

Nathan also thinks Rebel is Angela! But she denies it and says she wouldn’t do it. Peter then calls Nathan and blackmails him. He wants Parkman and Daphne for the information he took.

Danko refuses to make a deal with Peter. Nathan says Daphne’s last name, Millbrook! It’s probably been said before but definitely not often. Of course they go and make the exchange without Matt and Daphne. Bennet warns Peter than he’s being set up (he uses his thoughts), but Peter gets shot (in the arm/shoulder) anyways, he then falls off the roof and gets flown away by Nathan (Danko mad). Nathan takes him to Angela and Peter is confused and pissed. Nathan offers to take care of Peter and they hug. As with all hugs in this family there are alterior motives and Peter takes Nathan’s power and flies away. Angela stops Nathan from chasing Peter and tells him the game has changed and he needs to be ready (she still pulling the strings…).

Turns out Peter did leak footage to the press but it was just of people in orange jumpsuits with hoods on… and so the press mentions the Patriot Act.

Parkman and Danko

Danko is setting Parkman up so that the government will see that the heroes are bad people. He rigs Parkman up with a suit of explosives (just like in those pictures Parkman painted of himself! yeah I know) and leaves him drugged in the middle of Washington D.C. close to the Capitol Building. Not good.

Bennet is Kidnapped

Quote of the show: Parkman – “I was a cop, you’re a scientist, a nurse, we did done nothing wrong and they turned us into fugitives.”

Wow “nothing wrong.” I’m sure they’ve done a few things wrong… okay they’ve all done a lot wrong. Anyways… they drug Bennet before Parkman reads his mind (which actually seems reasonable). Parkman sees a scene with Angela Petrelli and Bennet from 5 weeks ago. Angela is telling Noah that the Primatech is dead and he should retire. Noah doesn’t think so.

Building 26

The bad guys found Peter in Bennets storage facility (getting guns presumably) and Nathan wants Peter brought in alive. Peter can still fly though and manages to escape pretty easily.

Back to the Kidnapping

Three weeks ago. Bennet is in Building “2-6″. Bennet suggests the “one of us and one of them” system to Danko. Danko’s response: “12 of us and none of them.” (good system) Afterwards, Bennet then finds Mohinder and tries to get him to work with him. Matt then confronts Mohinder about it and they kind of fight over it. They break some glass and Noah manages to break free without them seeing (way to go heroes…). Noah breaks into a car and is about to start it when Peter lands on the car and says “Hi.” So they tie up Bennet again.

One Week Ago. Noah meets up with Danko to try and get to know him better. So Matt now knows who is in charge and Peter goes after Danko.

Danko’s Apartment

Danko returns to his place and Peter is already there with a gun pointed at his head. Building 26 has surveilance and knows about it. Nathan then flies over and talks to Peter (Danko is confused how Nathan could get there so fast). Nathan tells Peter that Parkman and Mohinder are about to get captured so Peter goes and flies back.

At the Kidnapping

Mohinder and Matt realize the bad guys are coming to get them and Matt is about to kill Bennet, but Bennet tells him that Daphne is still alive and he could prove it to Matt if he thinks about it. Turns out Daphne wasn’t fataly wounded and they saved/captured her. In the meantime Mohinder holds the bad guys off for a little while (it takes like 5 tasers to stop him). So as they’re walking him out Peter throws a flash grenade and takes Parkman (super fast flying seems like it’s been very useful).

Back at Building 26

Turns out Peter did not also save Mohinder and he’s chained up like Tracy Strauss was except more chains and less heat lamps. Nathan starts interrogating (more like talking with) Mohinder. Nathan starts explaining his evil plans to Mohinder. First he plans to contain all the special people. Then control the powers and put everything back to normal. He tells Suresh that he must try and study Daphne to control her powers or the government is just going to kill all the people with powers. Well at least Suresh gets to go back to the lab.

Bennet and Danko

Danko seems very short in this scene, like a whole head shorter than Bennet. Danko wants the bad guys to start being harder on the heroes and Bennet now agrees (maybe it means faster tasers? or real guns?). Danko leaves and Bennet sits with Angela Petrelli (seriously she was in the same park just sitting on a bench). Turns out Noah’s been working with Angela all along to infiltrate the government plan.

Matt and Peter

Matt is painting the future to try and find Daphne. He paints the future alright. It looks like he’s got dynamite strapped to his chest and Washington DC is going to get hit with a nuclear bomb (the bomb scene is painted on the floor like how Isaac Mendez painted New York getting blown up, so dramatic…).

So it looks like Matt has almost completed his journey to crazy town and will start blowing things up. The sight of the bombing could actually be Building 26 and Parkman’s dynamite might be hot dogs (okay maybe not with the hotdogs). At the very least we better see some better pyrotechnics than what happened at the plane crash. And did anyone realize Claire and Hiro weren’t in the episode? Too bad Peter was still in it. Does anybody know of an episode that none of them were in? Actually I’m not sure if this is the first show Claire wasn’t it. And it looks like in the next show Peter might die (as if that will ever happen…)

Plot

I was impressed by the premiere. I was interesting and showed the potential of where the show could go (which is just about anywhere). This is kind of a Hobo Show, in that the main characters deal with a new story each episode and then move on like nothing happened. Of course the main character Echo (Dushku) is special and will probably figure out that she’s a Doll at some point (even though this is kind of what she signed up for). There are a couple side stories that will probably collide near the season finale. The first one has an FBI agent looking for the Dollhouse, it’s kind of random. The second one is about a Doll who broke out of the Dollhouse and killed lots of people along the way, but he didn’t kill Echo for some special reason. I’m sure these will wrap-up somehow or at least become less random, but for now they seem a little pointless since Echo is slowly realizing she is a Doll and will probably be fighting the Dollhouse by the second season (It will totally be like if the Matrix, Alias and Nikita had a baby).

Acting

Eliza Dushku can be anyone for all I care and in this show she actually is anyone. I was impressed in the third show where she sings. It maked me wish they brought Faith back for the musical episode of Buffy.
Harry Lennix (Boyd Langton) – 24, Matrix:Reloaded, Commander in Chief – Lennix plays a good cop/father-figure. You can tell that when Echo gets in trouble he’ll always put her well-being before Dollhouse’s.
Franz Kranx (Topher Brink) – Welcome to the Captain, the Village – He plays the horny geek well enough. Nowadays you pretty much need one per show.
Tahmoh Penikett (Agent Paul Ballard) – Battlestar Galatica, Cold Squad – He’s proven himself on Battlestar, but his character here seems a little pointless. And did you know he’s from Whitehorse, YK?
Olivia Williams (Adelle DeWitt) – X-Men:3, The 6th Sense – She’s British, so she adds a little class to the show and can still be a cold heartless boss.
Amy Acker (Dr. Claire Saunders)  – Angel, Alias – Another actress from Whedon’s previous shows. She seems a little awkward as the doctor and I’m wondering why she is guest starring when she seems to be the like the only doctor in the dollhouse…

There are other characters but they seem pointless or expendible (namely Sierra and Victor, all the dolls seem expendible considering the work they do).

Action

This show has just about every kind of action. There’s been street racing, kidnapping, human hunting and crazy popstars. And Echo’s clothes seem to come off at a moments notice.  I realize this is one of the things the Dollhouse is for, but even when she isn’t Active in a “romantic” Ingagement. This is probably the closest thing to a variety action show I’ve ever seen. So far the action has been great.

Risky Business

The Good
The fan base Whedon and the hotness of Eliza Dushku should be able to bring a lot of viewers and as I just said, the action is great. The plot could use a little work, but the acting has been good so far. If people give this show a chance they will be happily surprised.

The Bad
I don’t want Dollhouse to be cancelled. And I’m not saying they should cancel it, I’m just saying the cast has had some bad luck in the past (I know what you’re thinking, all actors have some bad gigs, but some of these were just horrible).
Dushku – Tru Calling (I liked it, but other’s didn’t…)
Lennix – Commander in Chief (not well received)
Fran Kranz – Welcome to the Captain (just awful)
Tahmoh Penikett – Whistler (it’s not his fault he’s a Canadian actor)
Olivia Williams – The Postman
Reed Diamond (Laurence Dominic) – Journeyman (I didn’t like it)

Tru Calling and Whistler made it to season 2, but the rest were cancelled after 1, with the exception of The Postman which was a bad movie.

Overall

Dollhouse is my favourite new action show (it’s right after 24). While the plot is a little random, who cares, the action is cool and I’m watching it for the action, not seemless plot lines and science that make sense. So go watch it!

The Bennets
Costa Verde

Noah told his wife and son that he’s a consultant now… and the lies begin… And Claire is texting (sry txting) her new Rebel friend. Rebel tells her to warn Alex and to go to Sam’s Comics on Buford (The new Costa Verde location…). So she meets Alex (who’s running the store) and tells him to leave. She also shows him her power (sorry I mean “ability”) and just then her dad walks in the store. Claire and Alex manage to get away. Alex then tells her that he can breath under water (he’s Aquaman! Claire sure knows how to pick the lame ones…). Noah figures out it was Claire helping Alex and she’s in trouble as usual. Claire then goes and tells her Mom what her Dad’s been up to and summarizes the plot of this volume. Her parents start fighting about it and she tells Noah to move out for a while (you know when the parents tell kids it’s not their fault… I’m just saying Claire could feel a little guilty about it…). WHAT! Alex (AKA aquaman) was in her closest when Noah came to talk to her (she’s either very stupid or very easy).

Building 26
Washington D.C.

The bad guys are going after the heroes using the Patriot Act… Nough said. A new lady comes and starts bossing Nathan Petrelli around. She wants to see their one prisoner. Abby goes and see Tracy Strauss, she’s appalled at how she is being treated and wants to shut the operation down. She then says there is no justification to throw away anyone’s rights like that. Just then Tracy Strauss starts breaking out and freezes a man before they taser her. Abby is now convinced and Nathan gets his funding (stupid Tracy she should know better). Apparently the whole thing was staged so that Tracy would break out, so I guess it wasn’t just bad timing on her part. I still like how American’s can flip-flop on their morals so quickly as in Abby thinking Tracy Strauss was a good person, but now kills after she has been tortured (maybe it was the torture). Nathan is angry at Danko for setting the escape up and tells him he should apologize to the blood stain on the floor while it’s still warm (when we all know the man was frozen to death… way to go writers).

Sylar and Luke
On the Road

Luke’s all giddy about going on a road trip. Sylar is focused and evil. It’s all kinds of annoying. Did I mention a they’re listening to a horrible cover of Born to be Wild on the radio.
Quote of the Show – Sylar: “Fine, technically I’m a serial killer.”
I like how the kid is purposely taunting Sylar to make sure Sylar will definitely kill him once they get to where ever. Sylar asks Luke to stop trying to be friends with him. Then Luke shares a story of Sylar’s father with him and then Sylar shared a story and then Luke tells him that Sylar’s father sold him. Sylar begins training Luke to be a villain. He tells him not to let emotion get in the way of your goals and then tells him that lately he’s been wanting to see his Daddy real bad (I see no concentration). Agents then enter the restaurant they’re in and Luke saves Sylar again. Sylar then leaves Luke to be taken. BUT! Sylar breaks Luke out (how he manages to be in the black van wearing agent gear or even why he does it doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, but I guess that’s not the point right now). Sylar continues to pretend that he doesn’t like Luke, but Luke doesn’t buy it.

Hiro and Ando
India

Hiro wants to save the bride and stop the wedding. Ando thinks he’s crazy as usual. Of course they split up and Ando goes and finds the bride that was in Matt Parkman’s drawing. Ando convinces her to stop the wedding by showing her some red sparks and Hiro is upset because he wanted to do that. The bride shows them a nice time at her restaurant (apparently after cancelling the wedding?). She tells them that she is marrying a bad and angry man. The groom shows up and starts yelling, Ando tries to stop him but gets hit with a pot and dragged off. The groom will let Ando go if the bride marries him. As the wedding is happening, Hiro crashes it and tells the whole story. They then have scene from the drawing. Ando apologizes to Hiro for getting in the way of destiny (when everyone knows accurate painting predictions don’t work that way). Hiro tells him he learnt that he doesn’t need powers to be a Hiro (I mean hero… this is just like Peter who was trying to be a hero until he got his powers back). Turns out Rebel faxed a message to India prior to Hiro and Ando arriving telling them to save Matt Parkman (Hiro thinks Rebel is destiny…).

To Noah is having a drink when everything goes fuzzy and he collapses. Of course he was drugged and then Parkman, Peter and Mohinder make a cameo in the episode to carry him “home.”

I guess Matt still has his original powers so torture wouldn’t be necessary anyways. I doubt the Heroes will get anything useful out of him since he isn’t exactly leading the charge anymore. And just a side note, but I was very surprised that none of the story arcs crossed over or collided into each other, they usually do.
